Brushing your cat

Regulary brushing your cat can be extremely beneficial as it helps remove dirt, grease, dead hair and skin from the coat as well as stimulating a healthy blood circulation.

This will help to maintain a shiny healthy coat even as the cat ages and is less efficient at grooming itself.

Cats can suffer from a variety of skin conditions caused by fleas, ticks or allergies.

Your cat may exhibit some of the signs by persistent scratching, excessive grooming or biting at the skin and coat.

Whilst brushing you can check for any abnormal skin conditions as well as the appearance of any wounds or lumps.

Hairballs

Another important benefit of brushing can be reducing the risk of hairballs.

Hairballs are a mass of hair caught in the belly. These can potentially lead to a blockage of the intestines and serious health problems.
